This versatile New Zealand native is one of the most popular hedging shrubs, prized for its large, glossy green leaves and dense growth habit. When left untrimmed, it transforms into a round-headed tree that can reach over 10 meters in sheltered locations. It offers excellent shelter and aesthetic appeal for both hedgerows and home gardens. The shrub produces small, inconspicuous flowers followed by colorful berries that attract birds. Hardy and resilient, it tolerates drought and coastal conditions well.
