Aloe Vera

A robust plant that forms spiky green-fleshed foliage. Great plant for medicinal use for many skin conditions including sunburn. Plant in full sun for best foliage colour. Intolerant of wet feet, very well-drained soil is crucial. Sandy soils are best. Can grow up to 60cm tall and is frost tender.  

Before planting cultivate soil to a depth of 20cm and mix in compost and a complete garden fertiliser. Use Oderings Potting & Basket Mix for containers.

Habitat: Can grow to a mature size of 60cm tall. Ideal for pots indoors.

Light: Bright indirect light, otherwise it will go dormant and stop growing

Water: Water heavily about once every two weeks, waiting until the soil dries out fully. Keep a little on the drier side in the winter.

Humidity: Average house humidity, no need to mist 

Soil: Re-pot into Oderings houseplant potting mix

Fertiliser: Use a Liquid fertiliser once a month in the growing season

Pests:  Aphids are most common and can be found on new growth

Poisonous for pets: Mildly toxic to pets and humans if ingested.
