Calathea Burle Marxii 12cm

Calathea burle-marxii is a compact houseplant that makes a bold tropical statement. Its bright green leaves are striped with alternating lance-shaped bands, and have deep purple undersides and stems. Like their cousins the calathea and maranta, their leaves fold up at night into a 'prayer position'.

Habitat: Leaves grow in fan-like clusters and may reach up to 30cm in length

Light: Prefers filtered light

Water: Water twice a week, use room temperature water, to keep the soil evenly moist, but not soggy.

Humidity: High, mist plant 3 times a week to minimise brown leaf tips.

Soil: Re-pot into Oderings houseplant potting mix

Fertiliser: Use a Liquid fertiliser in summer

Flower Color: Can produce clusters of white flowers appearing at the ends of long stalks

Pests: Aphids are most common and can be found on new growth

Poisonous for pets: Non-toxic to pets and humans
