Keep cats out of your garden with Naphthalene crystals, which repel about 95% of cats from treated areas. Prevention is key, and a great solution is commercial strength Naphthalene, sold as Cat Repellent. Similar to mothballs used for protecting stored woolen clothing, these crystals are highly effective.

Simply sprinkle the crystals around the seedlings you want to protect. The smell, which cats find highly unpleasant, drives them away. When freshly applied, it can even make their eyes water. The crystals evaporate over several days and need to be replaced until the cats are deterred or the plants are well established. This product can also be used around doorways and other areas where you want to keep cats away.
