A shrubby rounded tree with upright stems and attractive foliage that is bright green to bronze-green during the summer and acquires a red tinge during the autumn.

Large, wine-red, double flowers are produced in spring and are followed by small, red fruit in the autumn.

Shelter from strong winds.

Best planted in deeply worked, free-draining, moisture-retentive soil.
