In the autumn of 1997, Oderings purchased the land and assets at 57 Brookvale Road, Havelock North. A garden centre was built and opened to the public in the spring of the same year.

Since then, we've been growing bedding plants, vegetables, potted colour and more on the Havelock North site. As demand for our plants continued to grow, we needed additional space to expand our production, leading to the purchase of a new property in the Gimblett Gravels. This purpose-built site gives us the room and facilities to continue growing well into the future.

Over time, production has moved from the original growing areas at Havelock North to our new state-of-the-art nursery. Under the leadership of Daniel Hart and his dedicated team, what was once a vineyard has been transformed over the past three years into one of New Zealand's most modern growing facilities.

Welcome to Oderings’ new, state-of-the-art growing facility.

Spanning 6.5 hectares, with almost 5 hectares already developed, the new site has enabled us to significantly increase our production capacity. It features greenhouses, shade houses, production areas, soil-making facilities and extensive outdoor growing space. Sustainability has also been a key focus, with a 2.5 million litre lake and rainwater harvesting system helping to reduce our environmental footprint.

Today, the nursery produces shrubs, bedding plants, potted colour, perennials, herbs and vegetables, with plans to expand into houseplants in the future.

Oderings' future in Hawke's Bay is brighter than ever. The region offers outstanding growing conditions, making it the ideal place to produce quality plants for gardeners throughout New Zealand.

Our Havelock North garden centre continues to proudly serve the local community and has recently undergone an interior refresh to make shopping even more enjoyable.
