A two-in-one vegetable with tasty roots and leaves. The name comes from German and literally translates as ‘cabbage turnip’, but this undervalues its excellent juicy crispness and light flavour, which is slightly sweet and milder than both a cabbage and a turnip.

STEAM – STIR FRY – SOUPS – STEWS – BAKE – DEEP FRY
SOWING DIRECTIONS
Where: Direct into the growing position in full sun.
How: Sow seeds 6mm (¼in) deep in rows spaced 30cm (12in) apart. Firm down, lightly cover and keep moist.
Care: Thin plants to 15cm (6in) apart when large enough. Water well and fertilise every 2-3 weeks.
