Calabrese broccoli is named after Calabria in Italy. These vigorous plants produce large, dense, dome-shaped heads on thick stems, followed by further crops of smaller side shoots. Broccoli is considered one of nature’s Super Foods due to its unusually high levels of vitamins and minerals.

SOWING DIRECTIONS
When: Autumn and early Winter.
Where: In seed trays or punnets of seed-raising mix.
How: Sow seeds 5mm (¼in) deep and lightly cover. Firm down gently.
Care: Transplant to the growing position when large enough to handle, spacing plants 60cm (2ft) apart. Keep moist and feed regularly. Harvest: 12-16 weeks from sowing, when heads are still tight.
