Tibouchina edwardsii is a shrub or small tree that can grow up to 10 meters tall. It has large, hairy leaves that are oval or elliptical in shape, producing stunning purple flowers with five petals that bloom in the summer and fall. The flowers can grow up to 12 cm in diameter and are popular with bees and butterflies.

It prefers a warm, humid climate and well-draining soil.
