Platycerium Staghorn Fern 12cm

Staghorn ferns are trendy plants that don’t require soil to grow and can be hung as a feature on walls inside or outside your home. Their flat, shield-like leaves cover the roots and can latch onto a support frame such as a ponga or a slab of timber. While the shields may look dead, they’re not! The fertile leaves grow from the centre of the shield and form the staghorn ‘antlers’ that give this fern its name.

Habitat: Can grow to a mature size of more than 80cm tall. Ideal for pots indoors.

Light: Low bright indirect light.

Water: Water well about once a week, allowing the top layer of soil to dry out between waterings.

Humidity: High. Can mist plant 3 times a week to help create humidity minimise brown leaf tips.

Soil: Re-pot into Oderings houseplant potting mix or ponga      

Fertiliser: Use a Liquid fertiliser once a month in the growing season

Pests:  Aphids are most common and can be found on new growth

Poisonous for pets: Non-Toxic to pets and humans if ingested.
