Ladybirds are very helpful to a garden as they control the pests in your garden by eating aphids and mites - a gardeners worst enemy.
Ladybirds are capable of consuming up to 50 to 60 aphids per day but will also eat a variety of other insects and larvae including scales, mealy bugs, leaf hoppers, mites, and various types of soft-bodied insects. They are natural enemies of many insect pests and it has been demonstrated that a single ladybird may consume as many as 5,000 aphids in its lifetime.
This handcrafted Ladybird house is designed specifically to provide a home for ladybirds and other species of New Zealand native insects. Place in a visible warm sheltered place, ideally to catch the morning sun. It is helpful to have soil nearby and food sources such as flowers and fruit trees. Try sowing some Oderings Wildflower Seed Mix nearby to help encourage birds, bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects.
Handmade from quality timber sourced from local, sustainable managed forest plantations.
