ABOUT US

We are a privately owned family business of five generations spanning over 77 years. We currently have 10 branches nationwide; 5 in Christchurch and 5 in the North Island.

Starting in 1929 when Alfred Odering along with his son Raymond purchased a building section in Stourbridge Street, Spreydon, Christchurch.

Tomato plants and fruits were their first crop followed later with ferns, begonias, lily bulbs and flowers. Rapid progress through to the 50's meant that Oderings had grown and become prominent florists in Christchurch.

By 1950 Oderings were arguably the largest grower of bedding plants in Christchurch and in this year Raymonds son Donald joined the family business eventually taking over in 1956. In 1984 Donald thought it was time to open one other retail garden centre at Philpotts Road, Christchurch.

Donalds children were now involved in the business and were in tandem with him in the rapid progress in opening another 6 centres throughout the 80's and 90's. In 2000 Donald retired and has been succeeded by 4 of his and Isobel's children who throughout 2000 opened 3 more branches, one of these replacing the old Ferry Road branch.

ODERINGS AS A COMPANY HAS A PASSION FOR PLANTS. OUR CONTINUING SUCCESS WILL DEPEND ON DOING WHAT WE DO BEST; GROWING, PRESENTING AND SELLING ORNAMENTAL PLANTS, WITH CONFIDENCE IN OUR QUALITY AND SERVICE.
